The Rhesus Macaque or common monkey is a versatile and adaptable species of monkey found in a range of environments across South Asia, including Pakistan. Known for their intelligence and complex social structures, Rhesus Macaques are common in both rural and urban settings.

Habitat & Lifestyle
Rhesus Macaques inhabit a variety of habitats, including forests, grasslands, and urban areas. They are highly social animals, living in troops that can range from a few individuals to over a hundred. These monkeys are diurnal, being most active during the day, and spend much of their time foraging for food, which primarily consists of fruits, seeds, leaves, and small insects.

Area Found
In Pakistan, Rhesus Macaques are primarily found in the northern and western regions, including areas such as the Himalayan foothills and along the Indus River. They have also adapted to living in urban environments, often seen around human settlements in Margalla Hills & Nathiagali.
